We are delighted to announce that Haverhill Town Council won two awards at the 2025 Suffolk Community Awards.

Haverhill Town Council was awarded Council of the Year and Haverhill Town Clerk, Colin Poole, was awarded Clerk of the Year.

The awards took place on Tuesday 23 September at The Food Museum, Stowmarket.

Reflecting on the Council of the Year award, Colin Poole said: “Thank you to the judges for choosing Haverhill as Council of the year.

“2024 and 2025 have been an amazing 18 months for Haverhill and that is thanks of course to the incredible council team – staff and councillors – working together to turn our aspirations into reality.  We are so lucky to see the strong community spirit of Haverhill reflected in how councillors and staff work together, all pulling for our town, and that was clear in the judges’ comments in selecting our council as council of the year.

“Like all parish councils, our focus is always on the wellbeing of our residents. This awards evening highlights the importance of parish councils in our communities, particularly as local government reorganisation is happening around us.”

On the Clerk of the Year award, Colin added: “For my own award, as always with such things it isn’t really about me.  I’m truly lucky enough to head an amazing management team in the council and this accolade is really just the reflected glory of what they achieve on our behalf, for the people of Haverhill.”
