Every summer, the UK sky comes alive with the breathtaking sight of swifts—those incredible, high-flying birds that spend almost their entire lives in the air. But these aerial acrobats are in serious trouble. Their numbers have plummeted by over 60% in the last 25 years, mainly due to habitat loss.
🏡 What’s happening?
Swifts rely on nooks and crannies in old buildings to nest, but modern renovations and demolitions are wiping out their homes. Without places to breed, they simply disappear from our skies.
