Thank you to the NHS & all key workers

A message from Councillor John Burns, Mayor of Haverhill. I would like to say a very big thank you to all the support you gave to Haverhill’s virtual VE Day celebrations. We showed a collective community appreciation to those who sacrificed so much in WW2 that we can all be proud of.

We have faced difficult circumstances in these past weeks, but we have dealt with it all with the aplomb, good cheer and helpfulness I have come to expect from the best town in Suffolk!

For example, from a recent Haverhill survey, more than 1,000 of the 1,750 people (who responded) had been shopping for someone else – a great public spirit. And 88% of residents reported they took part in the Clap for Carers on Thursday evenings. Many volunteers across the town are assisting the vulnerable behind the scenes with shopping, advice, etc.

Haverhill is now showing its appreciation for NHS and Key workers by flying the flags on the Market Square.

Please carry on the good work and keep to the new rules and advice.

Let’s keep pulling together.
